Tuesday evening February 24 6-8pm. $25

A rare opportunity to watch Chang Mei Yun from Taiwan demonstrate these ancient decorative techniques.  Fa Hua is cloisonné, a brilliant raised enamel porcelain technique that had vanished for nearly 3 centuries and Qing Hua is the traditional blue and white technique.

Chang Mei Yun began her career in 1973 as a ceramic painter at Shire Pottery.  Growing up in a town shaped by ceramics, she was drawn to the art through her love of painting.

When she encountered the long lost art of Fa Hua Cai she was determined to revive it, experimenting tirelessly until she restored the craft to life.

Her work, renowned for its elegance and technical mastery, fuses Classical Chinese traditions with modern sensibility.  Praised by experts from the Palace Museum in Beijing as “treasures worth collecting” she is recognised as a National Treasure of Taiwan.
