Claypool welcomes all levels of potters from people who just like to dabble to those who pot professionally

MEMBERSHIP

Claypool offers an ongoing membership which provides access to the studio’s facilities for professional and amateur potters, ceramicists and sculptors working in clay. Members have unlimited use of the studio, 7 days a week, 8am till late.

Price: $630/quarter ($210/month)

Includes:

  • Use of communal equipment and glazes
  • Personal shelf for storage – approximately 120cm x 40cm
  • Reduced firing rates
  • Technical advice
  • Exhibition opportunities

DAILY DROP-IN

Daily drop-ins can attend 7 days a week, between the hours of 10am and 5pm when there is someone on duty.

Prices: $70/day or $35/half day (up to 3 hours)

Please make an appointment for a short induction before commencement

  • Use of communal shelves for storage of work-in-progress and clay

FIRING

We have 5 electric kilns of various sizes, which are operated by our skilled technicians, available to members, drop-ins and outside firers. We offer communal firings, or you can book a whole kiln.  Please note only stoneware and porcelain clays can be used (we high fire to 1260 degrees), no earthenware unless a whole kiln is booked.

COMMUNAL KILN PRICES:
Members – $12 per kilo
Non-members and daily drop-ins – $25 per kilo
Prices include bisque and glaze firings

Individual kiln hire is also available to the public (prices on request)

CLASSES

We hold regular wheel throwing and hand building classes throughout the year.
Prices include clay, glazes, tools and firing

PRIVATE LESSONS

We offer one-on-one wheel throwing lessons on weekends, and some evenings (prior bookings essential).

1 PERSON:     $60/hour (plus clay/firing)
2-3 PEOPLE:  $40 per person/hour (plus clay/firing)

NB 2 hours are needed for beginner first lesson

TEAM BUILDING/BONDING: $100/head, includes clay – Maximum 16 people, (8 hand building and 8 wheel) – 2 hours
